Cheryl Lynn Holmes, LPCS, MAC, CCH
I am a Holistic Psychotherapist incorporating the most effective Western and Eastern psychotherapy techniques to remove the obstacles in your life so that you can live a life worth celebrating.
Holistic Psychotherapy is the most effective approach to permanently helping you resolve issues ranging from relationship problems, trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, addiction, to unresolved grief. It is also very effective in helping you achieve your full potential in life. Love, peace, prosperity, enlightenment—that is what we all seek. I partner with you to achieve these.
Helping couples learn to enjoy a conscious, loving partnership is one of the greatest joys of my life. The successful model I use is Imago Relationship Therapy. This model teaches couples to communicate most effectively and to discover true intimacy.
Sexuality is an important part of people’s lives. When there is a sexual challenge or difficulty, it often spills over into other aspects of our lives. Ignoring it or trying to figure it out on our own is rarely effective. As a Sex Therapist, I am here to offer solutions. I offer the key skills which you can acquire in order to attain confidence and gain insight into your sexual issues.
The Mind/Body Connection has been a life long fascination of mine. Over the last 20 years I have accumulated extensive experience and training which equipped me to incorporate Mindfulness Meditation, Reiki, Healing Touch, Aromatherapy, Music and Art Therapy Techniques and Hypnotherapy into my sessions. All of my clients leave their sessions feeling refreshed and more equipped to live a meaningful life.
My education includes a BS degree with a concentration in marriage and family counseling, gender roles, and abnormal psychology. My MS degree in community counseling equipped me to assess and treat a wide variety of issues from mental illnesses to career counseling. I continued my educational journey to become not only licensed to practice independently but to supervise others to become licensed. I have a Master Addiction Counselor Certification and most recently achieved the status of Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist. In June 2016, I will be qualified to offer EMDR. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. Some studies show that 84%-90% of single-trauma victims no longer have post-traumatic stress disorder after only three 90-minute sessions.
For eight years I was honored to be an adjunct professor at the University of South Alabama where I taught first and third year psychiatric residents about Addiction and the Brain. I have also been honored to conduct workshops at the local and state levels on Borderline Personality Disorders, Basics of Addiction, Clinical Supervision, Ethics in Counseling, Person Centered Treatment Planning, and The Brain and Behavior.
